Pit bull located after allegedly attacking Amesbury police

AMESBURY – A brown pit bull who escaped from a home on Sunday and allegedly attacked police has been found, according to the Amesbury Police Department.

On Sunday at 10:05 a.m. the Amesbury Police Department put out a notice for a “violent and extremely aggressive pit bull” in the Whitehall Road area of Amesbury.

At 12:07 p.m. the department put out a shelter in place warning asking residents in the areas of Whitehall Lake Drive Condos, Barbara Drive, Pamela Lane, and Unicorn Circle area off Whitehall Road to remain indoors. The pit bull was reported as running loose in the neighborhood and should be considered dangerous as it is most likely to attack, said the department via Facebook.

The dog was located Monday morning.
